Lettmotif is a French publisher that focuses on narrative cinema and film genres. Over the course of five years, it opened itself to the possibility of discussing other moving image mediums, from perspectives that were not always cinema-centered. Mounir Allaoui was its first editor and from the third issue invited me to join the journal as co-editor in chief. We had planned to make ten issues and had to stop at nine once the publisher’s commitment moved to a less multidisciplinary project. The journal would eventually find an audience, and will return under another name, Constance, in another form.
